It needs to be revved until the oil pressure reaches normal running pressure that will be around 2-2500 RPM - check yourself as to the lowest revs when the oil pressure reaches max. According to Ford you should use a 0W-40 weight engine oil with the specification ‘WSS M2C937-A’ in a Focus RS Mk2. Some owners will use heavier weight oils for track use, but for just general driving it is best to stick to 0W-40 like Ford recommends. Additionally, you should use a good quality synthetic oil over a non-synthetic (dino) one.
Neil S. The 'minimum level' mark on the container is right down the bottom, you can just about see it. As long as the fluid level is about 1/2 to 1 cm high then you should be fine - mine's been that 'low' since i got the car.
It has always had the usual Mk2 Escort "healthy" gearbox extension oil leak. Despite changing the extension seal several times over the years the leak continued. So this time I drilled out the small breather hole to 7.0mm and welded a 10mm OD ferrel centred on the hole and ran a rubber hose from the ferrel into clean air in the engine bay.
